Forget anyone who calls us the snowflake generation, us millennials seem to be the generation of entrepreneurship. We see everyone from Mark Zuckerberg to Zoella carve out their own empire built on hard work and craft. It’s no surprise that when we hear their success stories so many of us want our own piece of the action. Myself included.
Sure, these stories – along with books like Sophia Amoruso’s #Girlboss and Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In – are helping me make my ideas leap into reality, but seeing so many people I know making a success of it is the biggest motivator.
Because I feel like I can relate to them in a more deeper and connected way than I can with a Facebook COO, no?
They didn’t go to super fancy universities, some of them didn’t go to university at all. Their dreams aren’t funded by multimillionaire parents, and they don’t have the pleasure of grand connections, or talent agencies. It’s all built on passion and determination to succeed.
2017 is the year I want to finish my novel, with the hopes of self-publishing it. It’s the year I want to elevate my career to another level … what skills do I want to refine or learn? It’s the year I’m going to turn my hobby into a side hustle too (hopefully). I already have so many fingers in so many pies. Let’s hope 2017 is my biggest one yet.
