When we scribble down our resolutions at the beginning of each year, it’s very easy to forget them weeks later. I know I’ve had my fair share of resolution forgetfulness by the time we reach February. But as life speeds by at 98mph, I’m ever more aware of living a full life.
2017 has been glorious so far – I finally became a first time buyer, started a new job, and I got accepted to teach a course. And with a new month comes a new mentality, and I’m ready to kick some ass some more.
Finish writing the course I’m teaching – I’ve been suffering with a small bout of writer’s block this week (who knew writing about something you’ve been doing 9-5, five days a week for the last two years could be so difficult?) but I’m really eager to get this course published. It’s a personal project of mine, so there’s no one breathing down my neck to get it completed … which is both a blessing and a curse!
Get some more plans in the diary – Winter is for hibernation, but now the sun is making an appearance, I’m all for being a social butterfly again. Since I’m prioritising my house renovation over heading abroad this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore England a bit more. I want to book in a cookery class with one of my best friends, to eat at the restaurants on my ‘to visit’ list, do a gym class at Psycle, and even do a solo city break for a weekend.
Curate a capsule wardrobe – I love pieces that can be worn for multiple occasions, like my new favourite dress that I can wear for Friday night drinks, on a date, or even at work. It’s made me realise how much I want to streamline my wardrobe, to buy more consciously, but to also be a bit more adventurous with my style.
Work on personal development – Do I want to run another half-marathon this year? Should I do a postgraduate course part-time? Can I find a cause I want to volunteer for? These are all ideas I’ve been flirting with over the last few weeks.
